Managing Director of APM Terminals Poti talked about the plans for development of Poti Port, after making a statement about its future competitor.
According to APM Terminals, they plan to invest $ 250- $ 300 million in the construction of new harbor in Poti Port. Representatives of the company say that the harbor to a depth of 13-14.5 m needs a land area, which has been subject to administrative dispute between the ministry and the APM. On August 30, 2019, the Ministry of Economy dismissed the Poti Port's complaint.
Klaus Holm Laursen declares, that there has been some progress between APM and the Consortium of New Poti Terminals. Lauren’s notes that Poti Port does not require any financial support or guarantees from the state.
“Poti Port will have a new dry cargo terminal. We do not ask the state for any financial support or guarantees. We only want to see an improved situation with regard to public infrastructure, including roads. We're moving forward with the port expansion project, including environmental impact assessments”, Klaus Holm Laursen said.
