Subsistence minimum for working age male amounted to GEL 223.4 in November 2021, which was GEL 34.2 or 18% more compared to the same period of the last year, - show data from the National Statistics Office of Georgia (Geostat).
The increase in the subsistence minimum is related with high inflation, as inflation rate hit a record high for the last 10 years - 12.5%. Prices are mostly grown on foods, which amounts to 17% y-o-y.
As of November, subsistence minimum for average consumer was GEL 198.1, which is an increase of GEL 30.3 compared to the previous year.
