A cooperation partnership agreement is signed between USAID and Geo Hospitals. With the help of the USAID project, "Geo Hospitals" will establish nursing practice improvement centers in the regions of Kvemo Kartli and Kakheti, namely in the municipalities of Marneuli and Sagarejo.

At the initial stage, the program will be focused on the training of nurses of surgical, pediatric and intensive care units, and in the long term, "Geo-Hospital" will also provide training of nurses working in other fields of medicine.

As the operational director of "Geo Hospitals" Maka Khomeriki told "Business Morning", the country needs 1,200 new nurses every year.

"The overall development strategy provides the employment of only certified nurses by 2025. Georgia as a whole is prepared for this and the nursing staff is trained as much as possible.

Actually, taking into account our population, about 1,200 new nurses should be added to the country every year, and we are still far from that," she says.

The total budget for the project is USD 120,000. Its goal is to strengthen the link between human capital development and employment opportunities and reduce the unemployment rate.
