Today in Georgia only 38 thousand people have been vaccinated against the flu, this is a small amount” – Head of NCDC Amiran Gamkrelidze stated today. Gamkrelidze called on risk-groups and citizens to be vaccinated against the flu so that it doesn’t add to the risks associated with COVID-19.

“It is getting colder in Georgia – Gamkrelidze stated after the Inter-Agency Council Meeting today – and even though the flu virus does not circulate at this points, it will probably appear soon. So I call on you once again, to get vaccinated. We have enough the vaccine in the country today”. According to Gamkrelidze, it is essential that his colleagues – those on the first line of the pandemic to be vaccinated as soon as possible. “Only 13 thousand of them are vaccinated at this point while we have around 50 thousand doctors, nurses, and junior medical staff” – Gamkrelidze added.
