43,200 doses of COVID-19 anti-COVID-19 vaccine AstraZeneca produced by a Swedish-British company arrived at Tbilisi International Airport this morning. The information is spread by the Ministry of Health.

"AstraZeneca vaccine is authorized by the World Health Organization for emergency use.

AstraZeneca can be used for people 45 years of age and older.

AstraZeneca can be given to people who have not been able to get a second dose due to certain deficiencies, as well as to people who have registered for the first dose.

Registration for the second dose is possible after the first dose. The interval between the first and second doses of the AstraZeneca vaccine is 4 weeks (28 days) to 12 weeks (84 days).

However, according to the latest evidence, the optimal period is an interval of 8-12 weeks (56-84 days).

AstraZeneca vaccination centers will be selected in existing medical institutions.

Information about the registration of the AstraZeneca vaccine will be known in the coming days.

Georgia received additional doses of AstraZeneca from the COVAX platform," the statement said.
