43.7% of household expenditures account for food, which means that most of the citizens' expenditures are spent on food.

To compare, the share of food in household expenditures is much lower in developed countries; for example, in the US, the figure stands at 27%. According to Eurostat, food expenditure in Poland is 17% of total expenditure, Lithuania - 20%, Belgium - 12.5%, Greece - 15%, and the Netherlands - 11%.

According to Geostat, the average monthly expenditures per household increased by 11.5% and is equal to 1,158 GEL, while the average monthly expenditures per capita increased by 14% and amounted to GEL 346.

Of this total of GEL 1,158, 70% is consumer cash expenditure, 23.1% is non-consumer cash expenditure, and 6.8% is non-cash expenditure. Consequently, one family spends an average of GEL 810 per month on consumer money. Accordingly, one household spends GEL 810 in per month. This GEL 810 is distributed as follows:

• Food, beverages, tobacco products - 43.7%, or GEL 354;
• House, water, electricity, gas and other fuels - 12.7%, or GEL 103;
• Transport - 10.9%, or GEL 88;
• Healthcare - 11.7%, or GEL 95;
• Clothes, shoes - 3.5%, or GEL 28;
• Household goods - 3.4%, or GEL 28;
• Education - 2%, or GEL 16;
• Other - 12.1%, or GEL 98.
