The Georgian Producers' Federation, Georgian Distributors Business Association, the Taxpayers' Union of Georgia, Georgian Employers Association and EU-Georgia Business Council have released a joint statement today in which they present a list of recommendations to the Georgian government to help businesses during the coronavirus pandemic. The recommendations include:

1. Cancelling the 'yellow corridor' during the customs clearance of goods
2. Companies paying VAT only after the sale of goods
3. Restoring the 'golden list' principle but the rule should apply to all companies
4. Suspending payment of income tax for six months
5. Suspending pension payment contributions for six months
6. Postponing the obligation of paying property tax in June for six months

The statement also reads that the business unions welcome the government's announcement about a plan to pull the country out of the economic crisis.

“However, as the whole world, including our country, is in a difficult situation and it is impossible to predict the economic process and determine when the crisis will end, the Georgian government must take bold, concrete and effective steps to ensure that the country's economy does not collapse", read the statement.

The business unions say the recommendations are created in consultation with the companies that are members of each business association.
