56% Of The Citizens Say The Gov't Did Not Do Enough To Get EU Candidacy Status - NDI Poll

According to the poll released today by the National Democratic Institute (NDI), the majority of respondents are aware of the decision of the European Council.

More specifically, to the question: "On June 23, 2022, the European Council recognized Georgia's European perspective and expressed readiness to grant the status of candidate country once certain conditions are met. Have you heard about this decision?', 62% say 'yes', 30% say 'no' and 8% 'don't know'.

The majority of those who was aware about the European Council’s decision believe that the Georgian Government didn’t do enough to get EU candidacy status.

In particular, to the question: “Which statement do you agree with the most?” - Of the 62% who have heard about the decision of the European Council of June 23, 2022, 56% say that "the Government of Georgia did not do enough to get EU candidacy status", 32% think that "the Government of Georgia did everything in their power to get EU candidacy status, 7% "agree with neither", and 5% said that they "don't know".

The poll was conducted between July 14 - August 15, through face-to-face interviews with a nationwide representative sample of Georgia’s adult population, excluding occupied territories. The August poll included 2,104 completed interviews. The average margin of error is +/- 2 percent.
