The First Vice Prime Minister of Georgia Maia Tskitishvili declares, that 60% of population is ready to be vaccinated and this is not a bad figure compared to other countries. But, Tskitishvili still plans to hold active communication with the assistance of media and explain to everyone that there are no risks associated with vaccination.

“If we do not complete the vaccination soon, a large part of the population still will not have immunity and that is a great danger, as the risk of spreading infection will exist”, Maia Tskitishvili declares.

The First Vice Prime Minister notes, that the government of Georgia has ordered 20% of authorized COVID-19 vaccine doses via COVAX platform at the first chance.

"A national action plan has been created for the vaccination in Georgia, which involved government structures, as well as the Public Defender and more than 80 experts. It is very important that we are technically ready to receive all types of vaccines and we have active communication with international partners, including the World Health Organization, the European Union, all suppliers to get the first doses of the vaccine as soon as possible so that the process will go smoothly and get back to the normal life," said Maia Tskitishvili.

The Deputy Prime Minister also stressed the responsibility of the state for possible complications in the process of vaccination.

"The pharmaceutical companies demand the states to take full responsibility for vaccination process, as the vaccines are developed in a very short time. Like many other countries, Georgia takes responsibility and the government reimburses the costs of any treatment in the case of need. Many thanks to the Parliament, which discussed this issue promptly at the special meeting, after which we are ready to receive the first batch of vaccine in the near future," - said Maia Tskitishvili.
