The Government of Georgia will take a record high new foreign debt of 2.3 billion USD in 2020, including 1.5 billion USD will be spent on the budget support amid the economic crisis created by COVID-19.
According to the document sent by the Minister of Finance, Ivane Machavariani for MP Roman Gotsiridze, 800 MLN USD out of 1.5 BLN USD is already transferred from donors.
“Amid COVID-19 pandemic, the following funds were mobilized from partner donor organizations for the budget assistance:
1) Over 517 million EUR and 200 million USD is already transferred;
2) Requests have been sent for the transfer of funds in the amount of 360 million EUR, which must be transferred by the end of this year;
3) Signing procedures are underway for 430 million USD, "- the document reads.
