The Minister of Economy and Sustainable Development Natia Turnava, together with the Chairman of the Government of the Autonomous Republic of Adjara Tornike Rizhvadze, opened a new tech park of the Georgian Innovation and Technology Agency in Batumi.

The event was also attended by Avtandil Kasradze, Head of the Georgian Innovation and Technology Agency, and Irakli Nadareishvili, Deputy Minister of Economy and Sustainable Development.

The project was implemented with the Government of the Autonomous Republic of Adjara and the World Bank's financial support.

As Natia Turnava noted at the opening event, Batumi tech park will serve not only local but also young people from the region who want to acquire new knowledge in innovation and technology and want to become more competitive in this area.
"In general, our government pays much attention to education and spends many resources on education. A separate area that we especially help with is innovation and technology, IT development, computer programming, startups. You know that recently the government decided and granted the status of an international company to IT companies, which means tax benefits. As a result, large IT companies are already moving to Georgia, which will employ our talented and creative citizens. So, it is essential to open such tech parks throughout Georgia. It is a new center of knowledge and a place for innovative education for young people "- said Natia Turnava.

Batumi Tech park presents a universal laboratory of industrial innovations equipped with the latest equipment (Fablab). A laboratory space staffed with highly qualified specialists will help interested parties in modeling and prototyping.
The tech park also combines a training center, a common workspace for startups and freelancers, where it is possible to get a job under certain conditions to develop your own idea or startup. The space is equipped with all the conditions that contribute to the development of the startup.
