Irakli Garibashvili, Prime Minister of Georgia met Abdulla Aripov. Prime Minister of the Republic of Uzbekistan today.
Dignitaries discussed the topics of current cooperation between the two countries, focusing on economic relations and highlighting the prospects of deepening the diverse cooperation between the Republic of Uzbekistan and Georgia. It was noted during the discussion that the inflow of tourists has particularly grown in Georgia and economic relations are advancing between the two nations. It was stressed that Georgia is one of the most significant transport corridors for Uzbekistan.
According to Irakli Garibashvili, Georgia is engaged in the following projects: Baku-Tbilisi-Kars (BTK) Railway, East-West Highway Construction and Reconstruction, Transport Routes via Black and Caspian Seas. It was also stated that bilateral trade volume grew by 18.5% in 2021 and reached 115 000 MLN USD. It was noted that Georgia is interested in further increasing the export volumes of Georgian wines and mineral waters to the consumer market of Uzbekistan. Dignitaries discussed the prospects of joint ventures. Transport infrastructure was also discussed, along with the possibility of using the transport infrastructure and port facilities of Georgia by Uzbekistan for gaining access to the EU consumer market.
Irakli Garibashvili noted that Georgia and Uzbekistan historically have had very sound and friendly relations.
“It is a great honor for me to be in Uzbekistan. It is my first Official Visit and I wish to primarily express my sincere gratitude to the Prime Minister for this warm welcome and hospitality. We – Georgia and Uzbekistan – have had and continue to have very sound and friendly relations. Nevertheless, my visit is aimed at further strengthening them, of course, to reach a different level. Dear Prime Minister, we discussed a lot of topics yesterday and as we noted, a truly great potential exists. I am confident that we will succeed in developing our relations further. Georgia and Georgian people are your friends. Once again, let me thank you and expect you in Tbilisi” stated the Head of Government of Georgia.
Abdulla Aripov stressed that the visit of the Prime Minister of Georgia to Uzbekistan is a significant event in the existing relations between the two countries.
“Dear Irakli, welcome to our country. Dear friends and guests, l am sincerely delighted to welcome you and the Georgian delegation in hospitable Uzbekistan. You are well known in Uzbekistan as an experienced and energetic leader. Effective measures are taken by you for the development of your national economy. It is the first Official Visit of the Prime Minister of Georgia in Uzbekistan and serves as a milestone event in the relations of our countries, of course. Welcome to Uzbekistan! Glory to the friendship of Uzbekistan and Georgia!” stated the Prime Minister of the Republic of Uzbekistan.
