"The International Monetary Fund has published a review of the world economy forecast. It is essential that the fund forecasts that Georgia will be a regional leader in terms of economic recovery and economic growth in the next few years," said Natia Turnava, Minister of Economy and Sustainable Development, at the government administration briefing.

As the Minister noted, in 2021-25, our annual economic growth will be 5.5 percent on average, which is the highest rate in the region.

"The forecast for 2021 includes a 5.2 % growth. The signs that our economy is gradually recovering and the recovery process has begun are reflected in the monthly statistics. The Prime Minister also said that this is a slowdown in the economic downturn from month to month. This includes an increase in Georgian exports, which was observed in September, also an increase in remittances and modest but positive dynamics, foreign direct investment, which will be strengthened in the future, "Natia Turnava said.

According to the Minister, therefore, the IMF forecast, which distinguishes Georgia as a country with rapid recovery in the coming years, is based on a rational assessment of the Georgian government's policy, primarily aimed at managing the spread of the pandemic.

"Anti-pandemic measures have been carried out very effectively. This has given the economy a chance to recover gradually. This allows us to move to the stage of adaptation. We will continue the process of slow opening without big, systemic restrictions so that the economy will recover faster, "- said the Minister of Economy and Sustainable Development.
