Passengers whose flight has been canceled due to restrictions imposed in the wake of the COVID-19 pandemic are entitled to claim a refund of their ticket from 1 January 2021. This is provided for in №76 order of the Director of the LEPL Civil Aviation Agency.

Existing regulations (Order N76 of 17 April 2020 - "Measures to be taken to monitor aviation operations during the state of emergency in relation to the spread of COVID 19 new coronavirus") were required by airlines to reimburse airlines 2 months after the resumption of regular flights. It was a decision made because of the COVID-19 pandemic.

However, due to the epidemic situation, the resumption of regular air traffic has been delayed several times, in the interests of passengers, the Civil Aviation Agency (GCAA) has set a deadline, after which airlines will be obliged to reimburse unused ticket fees.

"Accordingly, a passenger whose flight has been canceled due to restrictions imposed by Georgia and the relevant foreign country (countries) in connection with the distribution of COVID-19 has the right to request reimbursement of unused ticket fees from January 1, 2021.

These conditions apply to passengers who had to fly from Georgia to Georgia, as well as from Georgia to another country through a Georgian or foreign airline, as well as to passengers who flew from another country to Georgia through a Georgian airline.

For reference, the interim measures taken by the Civil Aviation Agency do not prohibit airlines from reimbursing a flight ticket canceled due to COVID-19 by 1 January 2020.
