The Russian-Ukrainian war will hit us in all directions. Product prices will be much higher during this season, - Head of Sheep and Wool Growers Association of Georgia, Beka Gonashvili told TV-Program Business Morning, while evaluation impact of Russia-Ukraine War on Georgia’s social-economic environment.

"Today, there is no time to make decisions with a hot heart. We should have to think about it earlier. We are almost entirely dependent on Russia for wheat imports, as Georgia produces only 20% of our consumption, and that also depends on the weather," Beka Gonashvili said.

According to him, we have a better situation in the direction of corn and we import much less. The average yield in Georgia is 2 tons and 700 kilograms, when under normal working conditions, the country's capacity is at least 8-9 tons and Georgia can be not only an importer but also an exporter.

"Unfortunately, in our country, agriculture is managed by outdated technologies. There is a lack of experience and specialists, otherwise farmers have always had financial support," Gonashvili said.

According to the Head of Sheep and Wool Growers Association of Georgia, the most important thing now is farmers' access to modern technologies, even with their own resources.

"They have to weigh well and take the first steps on a small scale. Everyone should be well aware that the results will not be available to the farmer in one or two years, it will take a long time," said Beka Gonashvili.
