Jan Sliva, Head of the Czech Development Agency notes that health and social sector, as well as agriculture are the sectors that the Czech Development Agency supports in cooperation with Georgia.

“So basically, all the projects that we do somehow help development in Georgia. We have another project for beekeepers. We also have a complex project in the forestry area. So all these projects are designed to help agriculture and land development in Georgian. These projects are always designed with the Georgian authorities”, Jan Sliva notes.

Head of the Czech Development Agency declares that Georgia has become a priority for Czech Republic since 2009. Georgia accounts for a large share of the development cooperation. In total figures, it's approximately 55 to 60 million Czech crowns (over 2 million EUR annually).

“This is slightly less than what we do, for example, in Ethiopia, Bosnia or Moldova. But these projects that we do here are very quality projects. In 2021, we have 18 projects in Georgia. For example, we're going to see the port. We're planning some kind of a feasibility study to clean up the port, you know, so to basically decontaminate the area. So, we do the basic study and then they will do that. We have smaller grants, - 100 000-200 000 euro. We have a large project, dealing with forestry. This is a very complex project dealing with forestry from all angles. We have continued health sector projects. We will have our first project in the so-called delegated cooperation regime, which is a project funded by the EU, jointly with the UN, Agency for Food and Agriculture, the FAO. And this is our first EU project in Georgia in the sphere of phytosanitary and food safety. And we are aiming for another project with another donor. We don't know which one yet, but it will also be a European project in the social sphere. So, we have a very wide portfolio”, Jan Sliva said.
