Mr. Michael Cowgill, AmCham President has remarks linked to the initiative prepared by MP Dimitri Tskitishvili, which envisages making amendments to the Labor Code.

Cowgill declares that they support labor safety and protection of human rights, but today the key question is how far the state goes to this direction.

Mr. Michael Cowgill has complaints that people are restricted to work in more than one job, as well as setting limits on working hours. The head of AmCham says it is necessary to find a balance.

“We just want to be sure that all implemented changes are good for the business. We have a very conservative approach to labor safety in general. Of course, no one wants anyone to be injured in the working process. Human rights must be also protected, but the most important question is how far we can go in this regard. Banning two jobs, working hours - there are many problematic issues in this project. First, it is difficult to enforce and we do not think it will be effective. A few years ago, when amendments were made to the code, we were able to keep balance. So, we have to do the same thing now,” Chaugil said.
