Minister of IDPs from the Occupied Territories, Labor, Health and Social Protection, Zurab Azarashvili declares that the ministry is working to increase the list of chronic medicines. According to the minister, the budget for chronic medicines has been GEL 20 million in 2021, while it is planned to grow two folds this year.
"We think what can be done to make the population even more satisfied with the health care system and funding. It is to expand the list of chronic medicines. The chronic medicines that the ministry finances throughout the year are not enough and we think to increase the list of these medicines. Expenditures will at least double. The budget for this, for example, was 20 million in 2021," the minister said.
Moreover, Azarashvili declares, that dialysis should be more accessible for the population: "It is important for their satisfaction to increase access to any service, one of which is access to dialysis."
