"Apples are emerging as an export crop for the second year," Levan Davitashvili, Minister of Environment Protection and Agriculture told Forbes Talks.

"We have been out of this market for 10 years. We remember conversations that Georgia must not buy apples from abroad and why thousands of tons of apples are imported from neighboring countries. Apple export is already started," Davitashvili said.

However, as of October 18, 2,514 tons of apples were exported from Georgia, which is almost 7 times more comparing to the same period of the last year.
