Azerbaijan spends about $1B on car import in 2021

In 2021, Azerbaijan imported 91,194 cars worth $935.2 million (respectively, up 69.7% and 44.4% from the same period last year), Report informs, referring to State Customs Committee.

According to the Committee, the number of cars with a seating capacity of ten or more seats rose by 2.7% to 266 ($ 41.2 million), and the number of passenger cars and other motor vehicles rose by 71.4% to 85,191 ($780.5 million).

Of these, 12,936 ($76.6 million) are electric-powered vehicles with internal combustion engines, and 160 ($3.5 million) are electric-powered vehicles only.

It means a 2.5-fold increase in the first and a 4.2% decrease in the second.

Meanwhile, vehicles for cargo transportation grew by 53.1% to 5,552 ($90.5 million), and special vehicles went up by 21.7% to 185 ($23 million).
