Health Minister emphasizes the need for a price ceiling for medications
Georgian Health Minister Zurab Azarashvili discussed the need to have a price ceiling for medications. The Minister stated, pharmaceutical corporations had no limitations when determining the cost based on demand.
“We selected a list of the most popular medicines and analyzed their pricing in different countries, the cost of import and distribution, and the pricing for supply in the network for patients. We made the same drugs cheaper by accessing the Turkish market,” Azarashvili stated.
The Health Minister went on to say that establishing reference pricing will defend customers’ rights.
