EU Ambassador Carl Hartzell is observing the ongoing parliamentary elections in Georgia.

As he said, the main thing today is for people to go to the polls and make their choice.

"Election day is a big day; I, like others, have been working for a long time to get here. This is an important day for democracy. I think the election will be held softly and will not be "tense". Diplomats are observing these elections in more than 1000 polling stations. The first assessments will be made by the OSCE / ODIHR tomorrow. The important thing is for voters to come to the polls to make sure there is no interference or violence, and also to make sure that the elections are conducted in the highest ethical manner," said Karl Hartzell.

The ambassador's statement is broadcast by Rustavi 2 TV.
