The fact is that despite about eight months having passed since the beginning of the pandemic, the modern world has not been able to offer anything new in the fight against the virus. So, once again: face masks, distancing, avoiding unnecessary populous social gatherings, and so forth, Georgian Prime Minister Giorgi Gakharia stated at the session of the Interagency Coordination Council.

The head of the government noted that the country is at the stage of adaptation and management, adding that the citizens must follow the rules. According to him, there is no need or necessity to impose restrictions.

"When we say that we are at the stage of adaptation and management, this means in the first place that we must follow the rules. I would like to emphasize once again that no one should think that the healthcare system's resources are inexhaustible. This is not so. The healthcare system's resources can be exhausted and that is the biggest risk. In order to repeat the success that we enjoyed during the first wave and the first stage (and we definitely must repeat it), three components – citizens, establishments, and the state – must work together. Everyone must shoulder corresponding responsibilities and everyone must approach this responsibly because what we are seeing now is that the number of infected people in the world will increase further and do so, it seems, at an even faster rate; this does not mean, however, that we must impose some restrictions without thinking. We are not planning to do this, there is no necessity to do so, there is no such need – we are in control and we must do everything to maintain the results of effective management that we have had thus fur, and we must think about even greater effectiveness," the Prime Minister stated.
