Ukraine’s Exports Grow by More than 33% in Jan-July 2021

In January-July 2021, compared to the same period in 2020, Ukraine’s imports of goods increased by 28.6% to $37.24 billion, exports - by 33.4% to $35.51 billion, according to the State Statistics Service.

In January-July 2021, exports of goods from Ukraine amounted to $35.51 billion, which is 33.4% more than in the same period of 2020. Imports of goods to Ukraine over the reporting period amounted to $37.24 billion, 28.6% more than in January-July 2020. Accordingly, Ukraine's foreign trade balance was negative and came to $1.73 billion (for January-July 2020, foreign trade balance was also negative and amounted to $2.34 billion). In January-July 2021, foreign trade operations were conducted with foreign partners from 228 countries, UkrInform reports. 

The largest export deliveries of goods over the reporting period were made to China (for $4.99 billion; up 36.5% from January-July 2020), Poland ($2.89 billion; up 67.6%) and Turkey ($2.08 billion; up 58.5%).

The largest volumes of goods exported to other countries in money terms over the reporting period were ferrous metals ($7.54 billion; up 66.9%), grain crops ($5.16 billion; up 4.4%), fats and oils of animal or vegetable origin ($3.77 billion; up 10.4%).

As to the imports, in January-July 2021, Ukraine imported the largest volumes of goods from China (for $5.53 billion, up 27.3% from the same period last year), Germany ($3.34 billion; up 13.3%), and the Russian Federation ($2.90 billion; up 12.3%).
 
In terms of commodity items, the largest volumes of goods imported to Ukraine in January-July 2021 were machinery and equipment ($7.54 billion; up 26.3%), mineral fuels, oil and products of their distillation ($6.18 billion; up 34.2%), products of chemical and related industries ($5.0 billion; up 22.2%).

As Ukrinform reported, according to the State Statistics Service, in 2020 compared to 2019, Ukraine’s imports of goods decreased by 11.0% to $54.10 billion, exports - by 1.7% to $49.21 billion.
