A high-quality citrus harvest is expected in Adjara this year. The forecast for the harvest is up to 40 thousand tons. 50% of this will be exported. The Ministry of Environment Protection and Agriculture spreads information about it.

The organizational issues of citrus harvesting and accommodation were discussed by the Minister of Environment Protection and Agriculture Levan Davitashvili together with the Minister of Agriculture of the Autonomous Republic of Adjara - Giorgi Surmanidze.

At the meeting, it was noted that with the ministries coordination, as in previous years, headquarters will be set up this year to resolve organizational issues.

"Today's working meeting with the new Minister of Agriculture of Adjara Autonomous Republic had a kind of introductory character; Accordingly, we discussed all the strategic directions. However, the main topic was the citrus vintage. Like in recent years, headquarters will be put in place to work together to accommodate the citrus crop. Coordinated delivery, processing, flow control, and accounting of non-standard tangerines will be done electronically. Orange vintage will be completed in an organized way this year as well," Levan Davitashvili said.

As the Minister of Agriculture of Adjara Giorgi Surmanidze noted, the citrus harvest in 2020 is not abundant, but the quality has increased. According to the Minister, up to 7 thousand tons of non-standard tangerines are expected this year, for which the budget of the Ministry of Agriculture of Adjara provides subsidies. Up to 30 receiving-sorting enterprises will receive a Non-standard harvest.
