Minister of Environmental Protection and Agriculture of Georgia Levan Davitashvili declares, that constant wheat supplies are more important than diversification of import sources.

“These are baseless statements when they say that our imports should be diversified and wheat should not be imported only from Russia," - the Minister of Environment Protection and Agriculture Levan Davitashvili said in an interview with Forbes Week.

According to Davitshvili, the process of wheat supply from Russia is a pragmatic decision of the industry, and companies buy high-quality wheat at a low price, because Russia is the closest supplier.

Moreover, Davitashvili has noted that Georgia will buy wheat from the United States this year.
