Amiran Gamkrelidze, head of the National Center for Disease Control, says that Inter-Agency Coordination Council will discuss how to improve COVID-19 vaccination coverage in the country, as the pace is still low due to the fatal case of the nurse died after taking COVID-19 jab in Akhaltsikhe.

Gamkrelidze says that vaccination will not be mandatory, but indirect methods will be used to force the people to get COVID-19 jab.

"Most likely, because the Covid vaccine is new, it will not become mandatory by law, but there are indirect methods that force people to get the jab. For example, now many airlines have announced that they will not sell air tickets to those people, who have not got 2 dozes of COVID-19 jab.

We have some outline of the encouragement measures. We can create a certificate of safe clinics and award those clinics, where all healthcare workers are vaccinated. We can say the same about the hospitality facilities, hotels, where everyone is vaccinated, guests can stay freely. These issues have been addressed and will probably be voiced in the coming days,” Gamkrelidze told TV Pirveli.
