GNERC Chairman Davit Narmania declares, that so far, the commission has not received any notice on tariff revising so far.

"We have imports during the winter season and prices are quite higher compared to the previous period, but 2021 was a hydrologically quite wet period for Georgia, due to which we had a relatively high share of cheap energy. So far, I have neither any notice nor any forecast from which the commission can discuss the tariff revision. There is no such issue," said David Narmania.

According to the GNERC chairman, despite the high import rates on electricty, "surprises" are not expected.

As for systemic challenges in the energy sector, Narmania says, that Georgia is carrying out reforms in this sector.

"We do not have any lag in this process. We observe the experience of other countries that have gone this way and we are moving at a pretty good pace. The market is already opened up in the electricity sector, later it will open for the natural gas sector, like many European countries. I am confident that the main directions of the reform will continue and we will meet the next year with an open market," Narmania said.
