I deeply hope that restaurant industry will not make regret us their opening, - Minister of Economy and Sustainable Development Natia Turnava so responded to the statement of Shota Burjanadze, head of the Restaurateurs Association, where he noted that week-ends were the main source of income for the restaurants.

"I want to note that it is a great achievement to open restaurants, as it carries certain risks. Our decision raises questions to the epidemiologists. I have high hopes that the industry will not regret us this decision - take responsibility and follow all regulations. The industry has many honest restaurant operators, but they are punished because of those, who harshly violate the rules. I am sure that we will control and prevent such facts jointly,” said Natia Turnava.

According to her, she understands that business operators are maximalists and the economic team also wants to lift all restrictions, but the situation does not allow it. Turnava notes that they will communicate with the restaurants and introduce regulations, as well as protocols for the safe opening.

“There are some risks. Large social events, including anniversaries, birthdays, weddings were the major risk factor in Adjara last year”, said Natia Turnava.

According to the decision of the Coordination Council, restaurants will resume operating in Batumi from March 1 (excluding the weekends) and in the rest of Georgia from March 8.
