Amiran Gamkrelidze, head of the National Center for Disease Control told TV Pirveli, that the daily infection rate might be 2-2.5 times higher than the official number.
Amiran Gamkrelidze explained that they are cooperating with the Institute for Health Metrics and Evaluation of Washington. According to him, the data on Georgia is analyzed on a weekly basis and certain forecasts are made. Gamkrelidze notes that information is open.
"If today there are 3,697 new cases of COVID-19, we have to take into account that, daily rate of infection might be 2-2.5 times higher than the official number, but these are mostly mild or asymptomatic patients. Restrictions and "lockdown" are not the only tool to flight against COVID-19, the second weapon is expansion of testing, - said Amiran Gamrelidze.
