Dairy producers demand "freezing" of credit liabilities for 2-3 years. Producers have already addressed the Ministry of Environment Protection and Agriculture.

As Nikoloz Beniaidze, the founder of “Shiraki” says, companies working in the dairy sector did not receive any benefits amid pandemic. Companies operating in the sector already have cheap credits, however given the current situation, to repay loans is a big burden for them, hence the among the requirements is called temporary loan suspension.

"From the state packages offered to farmers, milk processing farmers did not get anything. The only benefit is that we get a cheap loan, but it is a drop in the ocean, which is necessary for the development of industrial farms. We have a clearly established policy according to which we can save the farmers. The first thing to do is to temporarily suspend existing loans, for at least 2-3 years, so that we can save the farms and not have to worry about repaying the loan that we have to pay every month.

It is necessary to reconsider the subsidy for 1 liter of milk, because part of the VAT is still denied. The process of exempting raw processed milk products from VAT has not been possible so far. These two issues are vital to save this industry," said Nikoloz Beniaidze, the founder of Shiraki.
