Delivery of half of Kazakhstan's oil exports may be stuck and exporters are discussing alternative routes, reports Argus.

“Even under the condition of stable operation of all routes and timely export of large consignments of Kazakh oil by rail and sea, the total throughput of all alternative directions through the port of Aktau to Uzbekistan and China is unlikely to exceed 27-30 million tons per year. At the same time, it will be difficult to use the rest of the volume of raw materials on the domestic market due to the almost full workload of local refineries,” reads Argus review entitled “Caspian oil exporters are discussing alternative routes.”

The total transit of raw materials through Russia from the countries of the Caspian region in 2021 amounted to 67.1 million tons: 64.3 million tons of Kazakh oil exporters, the rest from Turkmenistan and Azerbaijan.

According to the report, it will be impossible to quickly deploy such a volume to other directions due to the limitations in the capacity of alternative routes, KazTag reports
