"The Russian market has never been a priority for our company," Giorgi Ghviniashvili, Agrolein's managing partner, told Business Morning.

As the managing partner of the company declares company has been exporting 40% of the products to Russia due to the simple logistics and easy payment rules.

“Russia always pays money in advance. For example, the Persian Gulf transfer money within 60 days and our farmers are not accustomed to that," - said Giorgi Ghviniashvili.

According to him, Agrolein sells 60% of its products in the Persian Gulf countries and plans to increase this figure up to 80%.

"The demand on blueberries from the Persian Gulf countries is much higher than we can supply. Last year we harvested 150 tons. This year we expect 220 tons and 80% of our products will be exported to the Persian Gulf countries”, - said Agrolein's managing partner.

According to Ghviniashvili, the cost of blueberries in the Persian Gulf ranges from USD 7 – 9. Despite, the high cost of transportation, all countries are in the equal conditions, it is much easier to compete and the profit margin is also interesting.

The volume of blueberry production in Georgia is increasing. According to Agroline, the total volume of blueberry exports in 2021 amounted to about 1000 tons, and this year this volume is expected to increase by about 50%.

Agrolein is producing blueberries since 2010.
