The European Commission (EC) has transferred another tranche of EUR 1.5 billion to Ukraine as part of the emergency macro-financial assistance package agreed in the EU last year. European Commission spokesperson Dana Spinant stated this at a briefing in Brussels, according to an Ukrinform correspondent.

The EC spokesperson noted that today the EC is providing another tranche of EUR 1.5 billion for Ukraine. This is the fourth disbursement under the Macro-Financial Assistance (MFA+) program of EUR 18 billion for this year. This assistance will allow Ukraine to ensure macroeconomic stability and rebuild critical infrastructure destroyed by Russia during its war against Ukraine, she added.

At the end of last year, all key EU institutions agreed to allocate EUR 18 billion in MFA+ to Ukraine (EUR 1.5 billion per month) to support the key social functions of the Ukrainian state during Russia's war.

European Council President Charles Michel announced the development of a multi-year long-term macro-financial assistance package for Ukraine. It will be designed to support the country's macro-financial stability and provide financial support for the recovery process and preparation for EU membership.
