Economic Council Meeting Was Held and Led by PM

Irakli Garibashvili, Prime Minister of Georgia held and led a meeting of the Economic Council at the Government Administration.

Reform of the inter-city passenger transportation was discussed at the meeting, which has been actively developed under the instructions of the Head of Government of Georgia by the Ministry of Economy and Sustainable Development. It was noted that a double-digit economic growth has been witnessed for the second year in a row in Georgia. After a 10.5% growth rate in 2021, the trend has been maintained in 2022 at 10.1%, which has been resulting from the right policies pursued by the Government of Georgia.

Members of the Economic Council also discussed the ways to reduce inflation. It was noted that the annual inflation indicator declined to 9.4% in January 2023 and it is expected to see a further reduction of the indicator. Discussion also touched upon the sovereign credit rating of the country announced by the international rating agency The Fitch. It upgraded the Sovereign Credit Rating from Stable to Positive.

Members of the Economic Council reviewed the large economic projects, which are being developed by the Ministry of Economy and Sustainable Development under the instructions of the Prime Minister of Georgia.
