Georgian Economy Minister Natia Turnava announces that low-cost airline Wizz Air will resume flights from Kutaisi in March. She declared that after the government meeting. According to her, low-cost Hungarian airline would operate 45 flights a week to 20 destinations from late March.

This information is not confirmed by Wizz Air itself. As the head of Wizz Air communications, Andrash Rado told BM.GE, - "it is too early to talk about a specific date for flight resumption from Kutaisi." The company cannot name an exact date, as it depends on COVID-regulations, which are still in place around the world. As the company explains demand on flights is still low due to restrictions.

BM.GE also contacted the Civil Aviation Agency, which issues flight permits. Along with other companies, Natia Turnava made an announcement on Buta Airways, noting that low-cost Buta Airways will carry out flights three times a week. The Agency only confirmed that Buta Airways will resume regular flights Baku-Tbilisi-Baku from March 19. However, BM.GE is still waiting for detailed information about Wizz Air.

What did the Minister of Economy rely on when she said that Wizz Air would resume flights from late March? The Ministry of Economy told BM.GE that Natia Turnava relied on the company's appeal, as WizzAir sent a letter to the Civil Aviation Agency, asking them to operate 45 flights a week to 20 destinations from late March.

According to the Ministry of Economy, negotiations on the details are underway right now, but the fact is that the airline does not have a permit on flights yet.
