Electricity consumption in Mestia is extremely grown due to cryptocurrency mining - Energo-Pro Georgia
The police discovered a large number of cryptocurrency machines in the houseroom of hotel "Banguriani", located in Mestia. According to the police, a large amount of electricity was illegally consumed.
"Electricity consumption has increased catastrophically in Mestia, especially in the last year. The reason is cryptocurrency mining. For example, the robbery found in the hotel "Banguriani" is equal to the electricity consumption of 4-5 average villages. It can be said that only Mestia consumes electricity, which would be enough for 12-14 districts. However, the old grid cannot stand increased volume of electricity consumption. Accidents often occur and company employees try to repair a broken network.
Energo-Pro Georgia calls on all relevant authorities to continue the process of detecting the facts of electricity theft," Energo-Pro said in a statement.
