Electricity exports from Georgia have decreased. According to ESCO, electricity of 152 million KWH has been exported from Georgia in the first 9 months of 2020, which is 36% less comparing to the same period in 2019.

The main reason for the decline is reduction of local production, as well as weak demand on the electricity from the neighboring countries.

Electricity consumption has declined at the same pace as the country's economy is shrunk. The country consumed 6.4% less electricity in total in the first 9 months of 2020.

According to official statistics, the country consumed 8.95 billion kWh of electricity this year, which is 615 million kWh less compared to the same period in 2019.

With high probability, electricity consumption will not return to 2019 levels until 2021.
