Employment index of Turkey, including industry, construction, trade-services sectors increased by 4.5% in the fourth quarter of 2020 compared with the same quarter of the previous year. When sub-sectors are examined; industrial sector increased by 7.6%, construction sector increased by 15.5% and trade-services sector increased by 0.6%.
According to TURKSTAT, hours worked index including industry, construction, trade-services sectors decreased by 2.3% in the fourth quarter of 2020 compared with the same quarter of the previous year. Out of which, industrial sector increased by 2.0%, construction sector increased by 9.6% and trade-services sector decreased by 7.0%.
Gross wages-salaries index including industry, construction, trade-services sectors increased by 11.5% in the last quarter of 2020 compared with the same quarter of the prior year. In terms of sub-sectors, industrial sector increased by 18.0%, construction sector increased by 18.1% and trade-services sector increased by 6.3%.
As the comparison of Q4 2020 with Q3 of the same year shows, employment index increased by 2.8%. On sub-sector level, industrial sector increased by 3.5%, construction sector increased by 7.3% and trade-services sector increased by 1.5%.
As for hours worked index, it increased by 1.2% quarterly. Out of which, industrial sector increased by 1.9%, construction sector increased by 5.2% and trade-services sector didn't change.
Gross wages-salaries index increased by 5.2% in the fourth quarter of 2020 compared with the previous quarter. While sub-industries are examined; industrial sector increased by 6.9%, construction sector increased by 7.1% and trade-services sector increased by 3.8%.
On annual basis, hourly labor cost index including industry, construction, trade-services sectors increased by 12.4% in the fourth quarter of 2020 compared with the same quarter of the previous year. Industrial sector increased by 13.4%, construction sector increased by 6.3% and trade-services sector increased by 13.0%.
Hourly earnings index including industry, construction, trade-services sectors increased by 14.1% in the fourth quarter of 2020 compared with the same quarter of the previous year. Industrial sector increased by 15.7%, construction sector increased by 7.7% and trade-services sector increased by 14.3%.
Hourly labor cost excluding earnings index including industry, construction, trade and services sectors increased 3.2% in the fourth quarter of 2020 compared with the same quarter of the previous year. Industrial sector increased by 0.4%, construction sector decreased by 0.2% and trade-services sector increased by 5.9%.
On quarterly basis, hourly labor cost index increased by 3.7% in the fourth quarter of 2020 compared with the previous quarter. Industrial sector increased by 4.5%, construction sector increased by 1.8% and trade-services sector increased by 3.6%.
In the fourth quarter of 2020 compared with the previous quarter hourly earnings index increased by 3.9%. Industrial sector increased by 4.9%, construction sector increased by 1.8% and trade-services sector increased by 3.8%.
In the last quarter of 2020 compared with the previous quarter hourly labor cost excluding earnings index increased by 2.3%. Industrial sector increased by 2.4%, construction sector increased by 1.4% and trade-services sector increased by 2.6%.
