Employment Rate in Azerbaijan 2.6% Up in Jan 2021

The employment rate in Azerbaijan has increased by 2.6% for January 2021, as compared to the same period of the prior year. The public sector remains the main employer, while education is the top sector. Contrary to employment, a decrease has been recorded in monthly minimal salaries. 
 
The number of employees engaged in the economy of Azerbaijan for the state of February 1, 2021, compared to the corresponding period of the previous year increased by 43.4 thousand person or 2.6 percent and made 1684.4 thousand person, 915.3 thousand of them were employees of the public sector and 769.1 thousand person were the employees of the non-public sector, reads the recent data of the State Statistical Committee of Azerbaijan. 
 
19.6 percent of employees were engaged in education, 18.5 percent in trade; repair of transport means, 12.7 percent in industry, 8.3 percent in health and social services provided to the population, 7.5 percent in construction, 6.7 percent in public administration and defense; social security, 4.5 percent in transport and warehouse, 3.5 percent in agriculture, forestry and fishing, 3.4 percent in professional, scientific and technical activity, 1.7 percent in finance and insurance and 13.6 percent in other fields of economy.
 
In January 2021 average monthly nominal salary of employees engaged in the economy compared to the corresponding period of previous year decreased by 3.0 percent and made US$406 (690.9 manats). Average monthly nominal salary in the sphere of mining industry, finance and insurance, information and communication, professional, scientific, and technical activity, as well as transportation and storage was higher.
