On 8 June 2021, Ukraine received 117,000 doses of the BioNTech/Pfizer COVID-19 vaccines as part of a new supply through the EU-supported COVAX Facility. In total, during this and early next week, Ukraine will receive 473,850 doses the BioNTech/Pfizer vaccine, bringing to more than 2 million doses the total number of COVID-19 vaccines so far delivered to Ukraine via COVAX.

Ukraine joined COVAX with the support of Team Europe, the WHO, UNICEF and other international partners. The vaccines are being delivered by the UNICEF supply department.

At the same time, the EU, via its Emergency Response Coordination Centre, is coordinating the delivery to Ukraine of personal protective equipment and ventilators, offered by three EU countries – Belgium, Germany and Slovakia. The assistance via the EU Civil Protection Mechanism includes over 35 million protective masks, 24 ventilators, and 10,000 of both protective suits and goggles.
