EUGBC has initiated to convene an Investor Council and review the current situation. As Sandro Chumburidze, the head of the EU-Georgia Business Council, told reporters, in the current difficult geopolitical and economic situation, it is important that Russia does not use Georgia to evade sanctions.
"Russia will try to use Georgia, Azerbaijan, Armenia, Kazakhstan, Uzbekistan and other countries in various activities, including the banking system, transfers, import-export, in order to see black holes. If we want independence and freedom and express solidarity with Ukraine, all entrepreneurs and governments must take this into account. We can get out of this situation without thinking about sanctions against us from the Euro-Atlantic area.
If we do not do this, all banks that participate in these types of transactions will not only be damaged in reputation, but will also face sanctions and not only on business but also on the government, so caution and serious work is needed.
We take the initiative to convene Investor Council and discuss this issue. I think both the EBRD and the government will agree to this”, - Zviad Chumburidze said.
