Export decreased by 30.6 per cent in May. It becomes clear from the report published by Geostat. According to the preliminary data, export has made up 234.1 million USD in the previous month, which is 103.4 million USD (30.6%) less comparing to the same period of 2019.

The sharp decline is fixed in import as well, which has totaled to 497 million USD in the last month. The figure is 260 million USD (34.4%) less comparing to 2019.

As for January-May data, the rates are as follows:

External Merchandise Trade (excluding non-declared trade) of Georgia amounted to USD 4 206.2 million in January-May 2020, 16.8 percent lower year-on-year. The value of export decreased by 16.2 percent and amounted to USD 1 235.4 million, while the import decreased by 17.0 percent and amounted to USD 2 970.8 million. The trade deficit equaled USD 1 735.4 million and its share in trade turnover constituted 41.3 percent.
