Export of Turkey 9.6% Up in February, Exceeding USD 16 BLN

According to the general trade system exports and imports of Turkey increased by 9.6%, 9.4% respectively in February 2021.  Exports were USD 16 009 000 000 with a 9.6% increase and imports were USD 19 308 000 000 with a 9.4% increase compared with February 2020. The main partner country for exports was Germany and top country for imports – China. 
 
In January-February 2021 period, exports were USD 31 038 000 000 with 5.9% increase and imports were USD 37 388 000 000 with 1.4% increase compared with January-February 2020, reads the provisional data, produced with the cooperation of the Turkish Statistical Institute and the Ministry of Trade. 

Exports, excluding energy products and non-monetary gold, were USD 15 307 000 000 with a 9.7% increase in February 2021. Imports, excluding energy products and non-monetary gold, were USD 15 531 000 000 with a 17.9% increase in February 2021.

Foreign trade deficit, excluding energy products and non-monetary gold, was USD 224 000 000 in February 2021.

Foreign trade volume was USD 30 839 000 000 with a 13.7% increase. Energy products and non-monetary gold excluded export coverage imports was 98.6%.

In February 2021 foreign trade deficit was USD 3 299 000 000 with 8.7% increase compared with February 2020. In February 2021, exports coverage imports was 82.9%, while it was 82.8% in February 2020.

In January-February 2021 period, foreign trade deficit was USD 6 350 000 000 with a 15.9% decrease compared with January-February 2020. In the same period, exports coverage imports was 83.0% while it was 79.5% in January-February 2020.

In February 2021, according to economic activities, the ratios of manufacturing industries products, agriculture, forestry and fishing, mining and quarrying in total exports were 94.2%, 3.6%, 1.8%, respectively.

 In February 2021, according to the BEC classification, the ratios of intermediate goods, capital goods and consumption goods in total imports were 75.1%, 13.7%, 10.9%, respectively.
 
In January-February 2021  period, according to the BEC classification, the ratios of intermediate goods, capital goods and consumption goods in total imports were 75.7%, 13.8%, 10.3%, respectively.
 
In February 2021, the main partner country for exports was Germany with USD 1 498 000 000. The country was followed by the United Kingdom with USD 965 000 000, USA with USD 917 000 000, Italy with USD 833 000 000, and France with USD 755 000 000. The ratio of the first five countries in total exports was 31.0% in February 2021. 

In January-February 2021 period, the main partner country for exports was Germany with USD 2 952 000 000. The country was followed by USA with USD 1 849 000 000, the United Kingdom with 1 778 000 000, Italy with USD 1 698 000 0000 and France with USD 1 492 000 000. The ratio of the first five countries in total exports was 31.5% in January-February 2021. 

In February 2021, the top country for Turkey's imports was China with USD 2 241 000 000. The country was followed by Russia with USD 1 706 000 000, Germany with USD 1 701 000 000, Italy with USD 931 000 000 and USA with USD 850 000 000. The ratio of first five countries in total imports was 38.5% in February 2021. 

In January-February 2021 period, the top country for Turkey's imports was China with USD 4 440 000 000. The country was followed by Russia with USD 3 534 000 000, Germany with USD 3 212 000 000, Italy with USD 1 602 000 000, USA with USD 1 579 000 000. The ratio of first five countries in total imports was 38.4% in January-February 2021.
