Exports of Georgian Services Amounted to $2.5 bln

The exports of services of Georgia amounted to USD 2 546.8 million in 2021, 61.2 % higher to the data of 2020. The imports equaled USD 1 822.8 million accordingly, it is 25.2% higher than the previous year. The positive trade balance was USD 724.0 million that is almost 6 times more than the trade balance of 2020, reads the preliminary data published by the National Statistics Office of Georgia (GeoStat).

In 2021 travel reclaimed the first place in the list of top export types of services, equaling USD 1 244.9 million with 48.9% of total exports. The exports of transport services totaled USD 822.6 million and their share in the total exports amounted to 32.3%. The telecommunications, computer and information services occupied the third place standing at USD 215.9 million and constituting 8.5 percent of the total exports.

The top types of services by imports in 2021 were transport services whose imports equaled USD 1 086.4 million (59.6% of the total imports). Travel followed in the list with USD 184.1 million (10.1% of imports). Insurance services were third in the list with USD 119.3 million (6.5% of imports).

In 2021, the share of the top ten trading partners by exports in the total exports of services of Georgia amounted to 61.4 percent. The largest exporters were Turkey (USD 365.5 million), Azerbaijan (USD 242.1 million) and Ukraine (USD 206.7 million).

In 2021, the share of the top ten trading partners by imports of services of Georgia amounted to 53.6 percent. The largest importers were China (USD 344.7 million), Iran (USD 121.5 million) and Turkey (USD 102.3 million).
