Exports To Peru, Spain And Kyrgyzstan Hit A Record High

The list of the largest exporting countries was significantly adjusted early in 2023, Spain and Kyrgyzstan took the leading positions this year. In January, Peru also kept its place in the TOP-10, which was included in the list for the first time last year.

In January 2023, the largest increase in exports was observed in Peru, Spain, Kyrgyzstan, Kazakhstan, Armenia and Russia. Sales of goods were relatively less, but still increased in China, Turkey and Azerbaijan. Exports to Bulgaria decreased, but the partner country still remained in the top exporting countries in January.

What Did Georgia Sell/Buy In Major Exporting Countries:

In January 2023, the rate of sales in Peru increased by a record 24,461%. The income received from exports amounted to USD 17 million in a month. Whereas in January 2022, the figure stood at USD 69 thousand.

According to the official statistics, only fertilizers were sold in Peru in January. 31,500 tons worth USD 17 million were sold in Peru in January.

As for imports, in January of this year, Georgia bought only USD 139,000 worth of frozen fish in Peru.

Spain was the second among the major exporting countries, where the rate of realization increased by 2 332.1% in January. The income from exports amounted to USD 19.1 million. Spain took the eighth place with a share of 4.2% at the beginning of the year. In this case, the list of exported goods is relatively diverse, although the majority of exports come from copper ores and concentrates. The ranking of sold goods is as follows:

1. Copper ores and concentrates - USD 18.2 million, 8 849 tons;
2. Non-denatured ethyl alcohol - USD 444 thousand, 235 tons;
3. Nuts - USD 227 thousand, 44 tons;
4. Manganese oxides - USD 148 thousand, 175 tons;
5. Rubber pneumatic tires - USD 88 thousand, 11 tons;
6. Tableware, other household and toilet items - USD 15 thousand, 6 tons.

Along with exports, this year the rate of imports also increased, and USD 13 million 870 thousand went out of the country to buy goods in Spain, the increase was 47% compared to January of the previous year. Among TOP-5 imported goods are ceramic paving tiles (USD 2.4 million), cars ($738 thousand), packaged medicines (USD 665 thousand), girls' costumes, overalls and others (USD 617 thousand), black metal cisterns, barrels, boxes (USD 554 thousand).

In January of this year, Kyrgyzstan was also among TOP-10 exporting countries. In this case, the rate of sale of goods was 1,031%. Thus, Kyrgyzstan took 10th place in the ranking with a 3.6%-share. In this case, such an increase in exports was caused by the re-export of cars from Georgia. The ranking of the largest commodity groups is as follows:

1. Vehicles - USD 16 million;
2. Crustaceans - USD 171 thousand;
3. Oil and oil products - USD 88 thousand;
4. Trucks -USD 85 thousand;
5. Cotton, gauze, bandages - USD 34 thousand.

The imports are small from Kyrgyzstan, although it has doubled. In January, Georgia bought goods worth USD 356 thousand from Kyrgyzstan. Among the imported goods are nuts and walnuts, mineral and denatured waters, dried leguminous vegetables, electric lamps, spaghetti, pasta and other products.
