Fines for Violation of Traffic Rules in Azerbaijan Amounted to USD 55 MLN during Jan-Sep 2020

In January-September 2020, the number of administrative violations of traffic rules in Azerbaijan was 2846.5 thousand. The main share of violations was detected on exceeding the speed limit on the road. Penalties in the amount of US$ 55 million or 93.2 million manats were applied because of a violation of traffic rules.
 
In January-September 2020, 1145 or 10.1% fewer traffic accidents occurred in Azerbaijan as compared with the corresponding period of 2019, the number of victims decreased by 12.0% to 1527 persons. 504 of the suffered persons died and 1023 of them were injured. 41.7% of accidents happened in the daytime, 38.3% - at night time, 20.0% - during twilight, 29.8% of accidents occurred on Saturdays and Sundays, the recent data of the State Statistical Committee of Azerbaijan shows. 

89.3% of traffic accidents happened in settlements; the number of persons died as a result of these accidents compared with the corresponding period of the last year decreased by 1.5% and made 393 persons, the number of injured persons decreased by 16.2% and made 951 persons.

41.6% of all traffic accidents happened with the participation of transport means and pedestrians, 34.1% - several transport means, 24.3% - one mode of transport.
 
81.3% of persons died and 75.3% of injured as a result of traffic accidents were men.
 
17 accidents occurred because of drunk driving and caused death or injury, where 10 persons died, 14 persons injured. 82.4% of such accidents have been committed by drivers of motor-cars.
 
In January-September 2020, the number of administrative violations of traffic rules in Azerbaijan was 2846.5 thousand. 34.4% of violations were detected on exceeding the speed on the road, 20.7% - violation of the parking or stopping rules, 8.7% - disobedience the requirements of the traffic and road signs, 8.3% - continue the movement during the traffic light or the regulator’s warning sign is active, 7.3% - driving without seat belt, 4.1% - violation of the anti-epidemic regime, sanitary and quarantine regimes, 3.2% - failure to sign compulsory insurance contract and the rest by other reasons. Penalties in amount of US$ 55 million (93.2 million manats) were applied because of violation of traffic rules.
