First Pfizer doses to arrive this week; Gov't awaits one more call

The Pfizer vaccine is expected to arrive in Georgia this week, announced Deputy Health Minister Tamar Gabunia on March 5. The matter concerns to 30,000 doses of the COVID-19 vaccine.

According to the Deputy Minister, telephone communication was held in early March with the head office of "Pfizer" and the representative of "COVAX" platform, during which all stages of the "Pfizer" vaccine distribution were discussed in detail.

Bm.ge contacted the Ministry of Health. As the Ministry declared, they were expecting the first dozes of Pfizer COVID-19 vaccine in the current week, but the specific date was unknown.

"We are waiting for another call from Pfizer and they will tell us the specific date of COVID-19 vaccine distribution," the ministry explained.

Georgia already started the rollout of AstraZeneca COVID-19 vaccine, but the vaccination pace is still low. Over 4,00 doctors are vaccinated at this stage.
