Today, the Former Prime Minister of Georgia, Giorgi Gakharia, formed a new political party - "For Georgia." He was chosen as the party's chairman. Gakharia gave a speech in which he discussed why he left his position as PM of Georgia and why he left the "Georgian dream" altogether. He also elaborated on the country's most pressing issues and how his party plans to strategize to deal with these issues. Members of the party were also presented.

Why did he leave?

Giorgi Gakharia, chairman of the Party "For Georgia," names three reasons for resigning from the post of Prime Minister and leaving the "Georgian Dream."

As he said in his speech at the party presentation, he is not afraid to talk about anything he has done and participated in.

The former prime minister vows to answer all questions.

"In recent years, there has been some progress in various directions, we admit it, but comparing this progress with the past is categorically unacceptable to me. We are no longer satisfied with comparing the current situation with the past because it destroys the future of the country. We should all agree that instead of comparing our present to a bad past, we should set highly ambitious goals that will be directed towards a better future.

There are a lot of questions in society, why we are here today and why we are founding a political party. I was part of this political team, but I resigned from my position. I left because the party distanced itself from the real problems of our citizens for a simple reason - it was considered that fighting political opponents is a much more important issue than caring for the daily problems of our citizens.

I left because, after 8 years in power, the ruling party compared even its greatest achievements to the reality of 10-15 years ago and thus killed prospects for the development of the country. No one denies that today's judicial system is better than it was 15 years ago; of course, that is a fact, but our judicial system needs to be fairer, more efficient. This is the reason why I stand here today.

I left because, at one particular point, the political party put party interests above state interests. These were the real reasons for the move I took," the former prime minister said.

According to Giorgi Gakharia, the systemic reforms that have been started should be continued through systemic renewal, but we should not be afraid to set ambitious goals and plans.

The most pressing issues of the country

"The country's main problem is weak state institutions, corruption and nepotism and the need for rapid economic development," - Gakharia answered the journalist's question - whether Bidzina Ivanishvili is the main problem of the country.

The former prime minister also answered the question - "Is his political union a project of Bidzina Ivanishvili."

"I have never been anyone's project. I will not be so in the future. I assure you, "Giorgi Gakharia claims.

Party's vision and strategy

According to Giorgi Gakharia, today, Georgia needs a team that can face the truth.

He stressed several times that his political team is united for Georgia and not against anyone.

"Today, we unite for Georgia, but against no one. Today, our team begins to be actively involved in the political process for Georgia, and I emphasize once again - against no one. We are watching the political processes in the country together with society. It is clear to me and absolutely everyone that today Georgia needs a team that can face the truth and needs a team that can tell the truth to the citizens of Georgia, to tell the truth about the challenges we face, and allow citizens to be engaged in setting the country's agenda. This is the way we can serve our homeland.

The power of truth lies in not living in an illusion. Sometimes the political culture and the political field force us to live in this illusion that quarrels between the parties may mean making some progress for the country - no. In the good case, we stand paralyzed in one place. In the bad case, the country is regressing. We all need to understand that no one can do our jobs for us. We will have a lot of work to do, and we will have difficult decisions to make. Therefore, I emphasize once again - we unite for Georgia to build a strong state that should take care of our citizens and homeland, "- said Giorgi Gakharia.
