Tariff increases were inevitable, Mariam Chakhvashvili, senior analyst at Galt & Taggart, told TV-Program Business Course.

"It was expected that the tariffs would increase, as we are looking at the situation of the companies. At today's meeting, a number of expenses were not taken into account, the GNERC was very strict and pressed as much as possible the expenses that the company had. GNERC has set the limit exactly, at least I hope so," Mariam Chakhvashvili said.

According to her, the companies wanted the tariffs to be increased more, but the GNERC did not do so and did not agree with them.

As Chakhvashvili notes, criticism of the companies for their demand to increase tariffs is wrong because companies are growing the service costs due to the exchange rate change.

"In addition, the share of imports is grown due to increased consumption," - said Mariam Chakhvashvili.
However, the GNERC has increased tariffs for both electricity and water.
